This list of spelling words is from Chapter 1 of From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg.

Assignments:
Tuesday, 8/30: Write each word in a sentence. Underline the spelling word. Be sure to include correct punctuation and capitalization. Skip a line between each sentence. You may use up to two spelling words in each sentence. Due Thursday, 9/1.

Wednesday, 8/31 Divide each word into syllables. Write the part of speech (noun, verb, adjective, etc.) Skip lines between each one. Use a reference source as your guide. An example is: knapsack knap-sack (noun) Due Thursday, 9/1.

Thursday, 9/1 Create a word search puzzle that includes a key using all the spelling words. A blank word search puzzle will be provided. Due Tuesday, 9/6.

Friday, 9/2 Study words over the weekend for a test on Tuesday, 9/6. Your test will include spelling each word correctly, identifying the parts of speech of some words and choosing 3 words to write in sentences.

Monday, 9/5 No School ~ Labor Day
